The Las Vegas Strip certainly is one of
the most famous trails in the entire
country. Millions of people stroll the
strip, gazing at the hotels and glamorous
attractions. But soon our tourists will look
down at the sidewalk and observe the Las
Vegas Walk of Stars.
Recently, the County Commission approved
an agreement between Clark County and The
Motion Picture Hall of Fame Foundation (a
charitable organization doing business as
the Las Vegas Walk of Stars) to install
commemorative stars in the sidewalks on the
Las Vegas Strip.
"As a board, we believe in
recognizing the talents of those who have
contributed significantly to the tremendous
success of Southern Nevada," said
Commissioner Rory Reid. "What better
way to do that than by allowing our millions
of visitors, who walk the Strip each year,
to see the names of those important people
displayed so prominently."
The people who will be considered for a
star are prominent personalities in the
entertainment, sports, literary,
humanitarian and civic areas of interest
that have been associated with Clark County.
The Las Vegas Walk of Stars will be
placed on the Strip’s sidewalks from
Sahara Avenue to Russell Road. This
public-private partnership is expected to
enhance the tourist experience for Clark
County’s visitors. Red carpet ceremonies
will accompany the unveiling of each star,
which will be made of solid granite.
Organizers are now considering who will
be among the first honorees for the Las
Vegas Walk of Stars.
