The Nevada Chapter of the
American Planning Association has awarded the
2005 DeBoer Excellence in Planning Award for
"Outstanding Environmental and Cultural
Plan" to Clark County’s Comprehensive
Planning Department, Nuclear Waste Program, YUCCA
MOUNTAIN MONITORING PROGRAM.
The Monitoring Program web
site provides a unique opportunity for public
safety and non-public safety agencies within
Clark County to evaluate, monitor and project
important factors regarding community
indicators. The core of the program was to
develop indicators that can provide an
"early warning" to Clark County
decision makers of the Yucca Mountain Impacts to
county governmental agencies and services. The
Monitoring Program is comprised of indicators in
four areas: environmental, economic, fiscal, and
public health and safety. These indicators are
updated on a monthly basis for ease in tracking
these important community issues.
