Clark County planners invited residents,
builders and business operators to attend an
open house Saturday, May 14, 2005 to review the
Sunrise Manor preliminary land use plan update.
. This plan is used to guide the area’s
growth. The Sunrise Manor planning area covers
approximately 40 square miles in the eastern
part of the Las Vegas Valley with a population
of 188,285.
The open house was scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1
p.m. on a Saturday to accommodate as many of the
public as possible. The second Sunrise
Manor land use plan update open house was held
at the Hollywood Neighborhood Services Center.
More than 260 guests attended and filled out 100
surveys making suggestions to implement into the
update.

Recommendations will now be forwarded to the
Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee, the
Town Advisory Boards, the Planning Commission
and, eventually, the Board of County
Commissioners. Adoption is expected in
August.
Sunrise Manor’s plan is the fourth update
to take place since the board adopted a new
ordinance in 2003 to make master plans more
reliable. Spring Valley and Enterprise
land use plan updates were adopted in 2004.
Winchester/Paradise expects its land use plan
update adoption in August. The update process
takes about 12 months. Over the next five
years, most of the unincorporated county’s 11
master plans will undergo updates. Citizen
participation is considered a crucial link in
the process.
