Construction
was recently completed on roadway improvements made to
Craig Road from Buffalo Drive to Durango Drive.
Craig
Road is one of the Las Vegas Valley’s arterial
connectors and is designed to handle a heavy volume of
traffic. To facilitate the movement of more vehicles,
the section of Craig Road between Buffalo and Durango
was widened from two lanes to four lanes with a center
turn lane. Other project features include construction
of curb and gutter and drainage facilities. Traffic
signals were installed at Craig and Durango as a safety
feature and to better regulate traffic flow. Also, a
storm drain was installed on Red Coach. Funding
was provided by the Regional Transportation Commission
of Southern Nevada, Clark County Regional Flood Control
District, Special Improvement District 148, and a Clark
County local area drainage fund. Project partners
included Las Vegas Paving, Las Vegas Electric, Olson
Precast and Highway Striping and Signs.

“Since
this particular stretch of Craig Road is bordered by
residential neighborhoods and provides access to
commercial areas, these improvements will help motorists
to commute more efficiently to and from their homes or
to businesses,” stated Commissioner Chip Maxfield.
Maxfield continued, “We thank the local residents and
motorists for their patience as the work was done.”

Motorists
should exercise caution as they become accustomed to
these improvements and the traffic control devices.
Clark County Public Works strongly encourages motorists
to always drive safely anywhere in our community. Over
one-half of all traffic accidents can be avoided if
drivers pay better attention to the road and obey
traffic control devices. For safe driving tips,
