Clark
County Boating Facilities and Safety Committee in
partnership with the Nevada Yacht Club offers a sail and
safety training program. The Nevada Yacht Club
Sail & Safety Training program is a series of
classroom and on-the-water instruction sessions covering
basic topics of seamanship, water safety, and boating
courtesy.
The
training is offered twice a year, one in April and
the one in September.
Times
and Places for fall classes:
Each
session is comprised of eight hours of classroom time
and is conducted in accordance with US Sailing
guidelines. Instruction is provided by Nevada Yacht Club
members. Each formatted topic is discussed at length
with emphasis on class participation.
During
the on-the-water portion of the sail training series,
participants learn first-hand from experienced skippers.
Various topics such as boat hardware and terminology,
boat handling and water safety, reading the wind and
understanding prevailing weather patterns are covered.
High emphasis is placed on all safety equipment mandates
and procedures. Attendance is open to the public.
