Spaces are still available for participants in the Winchester Players Youth and Adult Performance Program at  Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S McLeod Dr, just north of Desert Inn. The program, under the direction of Broadway veteran Susan Swansen, teaches all aspects of theater performance as well as audition techniques, developing stage presence, improvisation, and set design. At the end of the session there is a fully staged final performance in Winchester Cultural Center’s 290-seat theater.

The Winchester Players Youth and Adult Drama Program is held for beginners, ages 6 to 9, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Fridays; for ages 9 to16, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays; and the adults from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays. The classes run from Sept. 10 to Dec. 7.

This session, youth students will work on the fall/winter production “Hairspray’s Christmas Party” for performances on Dec. 6 and 7. Adult students will present “Murder Mysteries.” Cost for the Winchester Players Youth and Adult Drama Program is $80.

In association with the program, Susan Swansen will teach jazz dance, acrobatics and tap for ages 5 to 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and ages 9 to 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost is $30.
