Ensemble Program Teaches
All Aspects of Theater
Spaces
are still available for participants in the Winchester
Players Youth and Adult Performance Program at Winchester
Cultural Center, 3130 S McLeod Dr, just north of Desert Inn. The program, under the
direction of Broadway veteran Susan Swansen, teaches all
aspects of theater performance as well as audition
techniques, developing stage presence, improvisation,
and set design. At the end of the session there is a
fully staged final performance in Winchester Cultural Center’s 290-seat theater.
The
Winchester Players Youth and Adult Drama Program is held
for beginners, ages 6 to 9, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on
Fridays; for ages 9 to16, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on
Tuesdays; and the adults from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays.
The classes run from Sept. 10 to Dec. 7.
This
session, youth students will work on the fall/winter
production “Hairspray’s Christmas Party” for
performances on Dec. 6 and 7. Adult students will
present “Murder Mysteries.” Cost for the Winchester
Players Youth and Adult Drama Program is $80.
In
association with the program, Susan Swansen will teach
jazz dance, acrobatics and tap for ages 5 to 8 from 4:30
to 6 p.m. and ages 9 to 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Thursdays. Cost is $30. Students participating in the
Winchester Players are encouraged to take the dance
class for a well-rounded experience.
