Exhibitions in Two Locations During July 2008 to July 2009 Season

Clark County Parks and Recreation’s Cultural Division will review exhibition proposals from Southern Nevada artists for the exhibition year July 2008 to July 2009. The exhibitions will take place at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway and Winchester Cultural Center , 3130 S. McLeod Drive . Proposals should be submitted to Patrick Gaffey, 2601 E. Sunset Road, Las Vegas , NV , 89120 . Work should be suitable for general public viewing.

The Clark County Government Center is the county’s main administrative office building. The complex has won many awards for its architectural design, which reflects the area’s geology and native peoples with a generous use of sandstone as a decorative material. The rotunda is the central lobby with a six-floor ceiling.

Artwork for the rotunda must be three-dimensional. No wall hanging or leaning works will be considered for this space. Covered pedestals are available for smaller pieces. Applicants are advised to visit the rotunda to get a sense of the scale and dimensions.

The Winchester Cultural Center offers classes, programs, performances and special events. The center houses a small gallery of about 90 linear feet. Two and three-dimensional work as well as media-based and installation work will be considered.

Exhibits are publicized with postcard mailers, posters, news releases and emails. An opening reception with refreshments is provided. The County takes no commission on sale of work. Exhibits are usually displayed for 6-8 weeks. All work must remain in the exhibit until the end of the show.

Applicants are asked to submit a proposal describing the work, the medium, size and number of pieces, a thematic statement and which space the proposal is for, with name included on all pages.

Also to be included are an artist statement, artist resume, and 15-20 digital images of current work, created within the last two years, giving representative examples for the intended show. No slides or prints will be accepted. Digital images must be at least 72 dpi and a maximum 200 dpi. Maximum file dimensions are 8” x 10” as jpeg files, on CD. Images should be accompanied by an identification list including title, date medium, and date.

Submissions must be posted-marked by November 1, 2007 . Accepted artists will be notified by January 15, 2008 ; proposal packets will be returned to artists in January if self-addressed stamped return envelope is included.
