The
Silverado Ranch Boulevard to I-15 Interchange was
recently completed. The interchange’s surrounding area
is the site of significant residential and commercial
developments that have generated more traffic. With the
project’s completion, residents, business owners,
workers and visitors will gain enhanced mobility in this
southeast section of the Las Vegas Valley and more
direct freeway access. Also, they should experience less
congestion on the existing local roadway network.
Construction included a
tight diamond interchange consisting of a bridge
structure over I-15 and ramp connections from Silverado
Ranch Boulevard to I-15; full roadway and drainage
improvements along Silverado Ranch Boulevard to provide
6 travel lanes (3 in each direction) from Las Vegas
Boulevard to Dean Martin Drive; and traffic signals at
the entrance of South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, the
ramp terminals and the intersection of Dean Martin Drive
and Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
The interchange’s
artistic design compliments the surrounding environment
and is in harmony with other existing and future I-15
aesthetic treatments. Mountain silhouettes with yucca
plants are featured on the bridge structure’s fencing.
On the retaining walls, which motorists see as they
approach the bridge or go under it, artistic renderings
of various native plants are on display.
“The
completion of this interchange is just one of the many
projects the County has within its Regional
Transportation Plan to enhance the valley’s overall
transportation infrastructure,” said Commissioner Bruce
Woodbury.
“The
completion of this project will greatly improve the
area’s traffic flow patterns,” said Commissioner Susan
Brager.
Funding was provided by the Regional
Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), a
project area special improvement district and the South
Point. Construction costs were approximately $40
million.
Project partners included the RTC,
Clark County Public Works, Nevada Department of
Transportation, South Point, PBS & J, Frehner
Construction, Parsons Transportation Group, Horizons
Surveys, Highway Technologies, Stewart & Sundell, J.W.
Zunino & Associates, Acme Electric and the Bureau of
Land Management.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution as they
become accustomed to the new interchange and traffic
control devices. Over one-half of all traffic accidents
can be avoided if drivers pay better attention to the
road and obey traffic control devices. For safe driving
