Jazz in the Park Featuring Paul Taylor

Clark County Annual Juried Fine Art Exhibition 2007

A cash award of $1,000 will be awarded to the artist whose piece is judged Best of Show in “The Grand” art competition, sponsored by the Cultural Division of Clark County Parks and Recreation at Winchester Cultural Center. The competition has no theme, will include all media and is open to artists 18 years or older who live in Clark County. The Grand was formerly called BOSS.

Artist Stephen Hendee is the competition’s sole juror. He will select fifteen to twenty-five pieces from the work submitted for the exhibit and name one piece as Best of Show. The exhibit will open with a reception in the Winchester gallery, 3130 South McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, on Friday, June 15, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and will run through August 3. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clark County takes no commission on sales. The gallery is fully insured.

Qualified artists are asked to submit 1.) a resume and 2.) electronic image files of artwork for consideration. All photos submitted must be labeled with artist’s name, phone number, medium, dimensions, title and date with top indicated. Electronic images must be formatted with the top of the artwork at the top of the image and must be submitted with a list of the above information, keyed to each image. All works submitted must have been created within the prior two years. Works previously accepted into The Grand or BOSS are ineligible. All media will be accepted, but work must be ready for display and small enough to fit into the Winchester Gallery. Pedestals will be provided if needed. Photo prints are also acceptable but not recommended; slides will not be accepted. The deadline for submissions (maximum eight images per artist) is 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2006.

Jurying will be completed by May 30. Selected artists will be notified between May 30 and June 6 and will have until 5 p.m. Monday, June 11 to bring the selected works to Winchester Center. If any piece selected for the show does not match the electronic image or photo from which it was chosen, the county reserves the right to reject it. The juror may treat his viewing of the actual works as a second round of jurying and may reject any initial selections at that point if he so chooses.

Send electronic images or photo prints (no actual artwork) to: Patrick Gaffey, Clark County Parks and Community Services, 2601 Sunset Road, Las Vegas, NV 89120 or e-mail jpeg files to: gaffeypj@co.clark.nv.us. Complete competition rules are posted at: http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/Parks/Opportunities_for_Artists.htm.
