Las
Vegas UMC Auxiliary Inc., a separate 501 (c ) 3
non-profit organization, donated more than $43,000 to
UMC for a much-needed patient transportation van. UMC
purchased a Ford E350 Diesel van complete with
wheelchair lift to transport patients from the hospital
campus to various satellite locations.
“We
are grateful to the Auxiliary for their kind donations
to UMC”, said Kathy Silver, UMC interim chief
executive officer. “ The Auxiliary has a history
here at the hospital and have always been there to help
UMC improve patient care. They are a wonderful,
hard working group of volunteers”.
Established
in 1954, UMC’s Auxiliary raises, on average, $175,000
a year for the hospital. These monies are
allocated for needed medical and service equipment
providing better patient care in the hospital.
With a group of 37 members, the Auxiliary provides
several fundraising sale events throughout the year and
manages the UMC Gift shop where proceeds benefiting the
hospital.

UMC
is the only public, non-profit hospital in Clark County and operates the state’s only Level I Trauma Center
and Lions Burn Care Center as well as several Care Centers. UMC is affiliated with the University of Nevada School
of Medicine and serves as the state's major clinical
