Mariano
Gonzalez was born and raised a cowboy in Buena Vista, Paraguay. As a member of a family of harpist he began playing at
age 5 under the tutelage of his father and grandfather.
After finishing his studies in 1971, he performed
extensively in Europe, Japan, Argentina, Paraguay
and the U.S.
Gonzalez
successfully redesigned the Paraguayan harp to allow
more jazz, popular and semi-classical influences into
his repertoire, giving him the ability to draw a truly
unique sound. His greatest accomplishment came in 2002
when he received three standing ovations on the
Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center
in Washington, D.C. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall.
Gonzalez
currently lives in Las Vegas and is part of singer Tony Orlando’s touring show,
interpreting the “Pajaro Campaña” (Bell Bird) with
two harps simultaneously. He performed at Winchester as part of the World Vibration concert series last year
to appreciative audiences. This concert will give music
lovers a second chance to experience this accomplished
artist.
