The
McCarran
Rent-A-Car
Center
will open to the public in early April. The
$166.8 million off-airport facility houses 11 car rental
companies in one location, offering travelers the
convenience of one-stop shopping when renting a vehicle
during their
Las Vegas
trip.
The
68-acre site is located approximately three miles south
of Terminal 1
near the intersection of
Warm Springs Road
and
Gilespie Street
. It features a three-story, 111,000-square-foot
customer service building, and an adjacent 1.8
million-square-foot parking garage with room for more
than 5,000 vehicles.
McCarran
Rent-A-Car
Center
also includes three 148,800-square-foot Quick Turn
Around buildings equipped with wash racks and service
bays. Car
rental companies share these areas when cleaning and
repairing vehicles before they're rented to new
customers. Each QTA has its own fueling canopy, while
the center's common fueling system uses three
25,000-gallon underground fuel storage tanks and
associated distribution systems.
Customers
will be driven to
McCarran
Rent-A-Car
Center
by a fleet of dedicated airport shuttle buses. This will
reduce traffic and congestion on airport roadways by
eliminating the many buses that were previously operated
by separate rental car agencies, which often carried
only a few customers per trip as others remained on the
curbside waiting for their company's bus. Another plus
for travelers: the properties that previously housed
rental car companies north of Terminal 2 will soon be
transformed into more public parking lots.
