Five-day Workshop Explores Application
Process
Clark
County Parks and Recreation’s Cultural Division will
host the Grantsmanship Training Program from April
9 to April 13 at
Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Dr. in Las
Vegas. This rigorous five-day workshop on grant writing
is presented by The Grantsmanship Center of Los Angeles,
the world’s oldest and largest training organization
for non-profit organizations. The one-week fee is $875.
Limited scholarships are available.
New
grants make it possible for cash-strapped organizations
and agencies to bring important services to the
community, and to get innovative ideas off the ground.
Yet applying for and receiving grants is a very
competitive process. The workshop will help members of
the non-profit community and government agencies
decipher the intricacies of the grant seeking process.
Designed
for both novice and experienced grant seekers, this
workshop covers all aspects of searching for grants,
writing grant proposals, and negotiating with funding
sources. Participants will work in teams to actually
develop a grant proposal.
To
insure personal attention, registration is limited to 30
participants. The program fee of $875 includes workshop
tuition and one year of TGCI membership benefits and
services. Fifty percent scholarships may be available
for organizations with annual operating expenses under
$300,000.
To
register for the workshop or to apply for a scholarship,
contact The Grantsmanship Center at (800) 421-9512
(outside California) or (213) 482-9860. For local
information contact Diane Bush at Winchester Cultural
Center in Las Vegas, (702) 455-7340. For additional
information on The Grantsmanship Center go to their Web
site at www.tgci.com.
The
Clark County Cultural Division is funded, in part, by
the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and by the
National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
