Did
You Know?
Did
you know that dozens of foster youth leave the Clark
County child welfare system as adults at 18 without
permanent families to guide them toward independence? Do
you remember that age and how much support your family
members or other caring adults were to you? Now
imagine having to do it all on your own without a
committed adult to offer moral support. This is
the fate of approximately 100 youth who exit foster care
each year. Are you willing to help make a
difference in a young person’s future during this
critical phase?
If
so, then please join others interested in volunteering a
few hours a month to these teens by visiting the
Government Center Pyramid on Saturday, April 28th
between 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. This
recruitment for volunteers will be held in conjunction
with a job fair event for foster teens for the same date
and time. Please visit the Mentor Matching booths
for information on how to become involved.
If
you are unable to attend the recruitment but are still
interested in mentoring, then please contact Ted
Flaum at Big Brothers/Big Sisters 731-2227 X422 or
email him at tflaum@bbbsn.org.
