Russell
Road is now opened from Rainbow Boulevard to Decatur
Boulevard. The project includes nearly two miles
of full-roadway improvements such as paving, curbs,
gutters, median islands, storm drain, sewer line
extensions, and traffic signal modifications. In
addition to work on Russell Road, improvements were also
made on Torrey Pines, Bronco Street, Edmond Street, and
Decatur Boulevard.
The
project is one of the many in the southwestern part of
the Las Vegas Valley designed to provide additional
routes for area motorists. This particular stretch
of Russell road was opened after a ribbon-cutting
ceremony held on August 18. During the event,
officials expressed thanks to the Regional
Transportation Commission which provided the majority of
the funding for this approximately $9 million project.
Officials also thanked property owners in a Special
Improvement District as the property owners paid a
portion of the construction costs. Event speakers
praised area residents and businesses for their patience
and cooperation as the project took shape.

A
future project currently under design will take Russell
Road even further west, from Rainbow Boulevard all the
way to the 215 Beltway. Clark County Public Works
anticipates starting construction on that segment during
2007.
The
motoring public is encouraged to drive carefully on this
newly opened road and all of the Valley’s roadways.
Drivers should look ahead to anticipate changes in
traffic flow and upcoming traffic control devices
including stop signs and signals. For other safe
