Area residents should be aware that no
local fire departments solicit donations over the phone
(or any other way.)
There has been a recent increase in
calls from groups located out of state who may or may
not be legitimate. Legal or not, they have no connection
with any fire department in Southern Nevada. One group,
Nevada State Firefighters' Association, does have ties
to volunteer firefighters.
To file a complaint, do this:
-Contact Nevada Consumer Affairs
Division by phone at 702-486-7355 or on the internet at www.fyiconsumer.org
(Note: they do not consider this to be a telemarketing
complaint-use the "Las Vegas" complaint form).
To file a complaint against a company
that has violated the "Do Not Call" registry,
here are some options:
-Contact the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC) by phone at 888-382-1222 or contact the Do Not
Call Registry via the internet at www.donotcall.gov.
To register a phone number at the Do Not
Call Registry, use the above listed website or call
888-382-1222.
