Clark
County
’s government access cable television station was
recognized for the third consecutive year last Thursday
for “overall excellence” and being the best station
of its class in the states of
California
and
Nevada
.
Clark
County Television (CCTV) cable Channel 4 picked up t he
first-place award from SCAN-Natoa (States of California
and Nevada Chapter of the National Association of
Telecommunications Officers and Advisors).
CCTV
4 also repeated last year’s first place for best talk
show with “
County
Critters
.” Randy Swallow from the Office of Public
Communications and Chief of Code Enforcement Joe
Boteilho, who oversees animal control, together host the
show, which highlights the wonderful world of animals
and the efforts of the county’s animal control
officers.
CCTV
4 also won first-place for best public service
announcement. Working with staff and an agency hired by
the Department of Air Quality and Environmental
Management, Channel 4 staff members created an
“O-liminate Ozone” spot. The PSA is part of an
overall awareness campaign that aims to persuade
citizens to take steps to help reduce unhealthy levels
of ozone in the
Las Vegas
Valley
.
“These
awards demonstrate recognition of not only continued
overall excellence but also fine programming from a
small but dedicated television staff,” said County
Manager Thom Reilly.

CCTV 4 airs various programs aimed at providing
objective, accurate and current information about the
activities, services and policies of
Clark
County
government. It also airs air live, gavel-to-gavel
coverage of meetings of the
County
Commission
, the Regional Transportation Commission, the Regional
Flood Control District and the board for the Las Vegas
Valley Water District.
