Many
commuters and residents who drive in the
southwestern region of the Las Vegas Valley have
inquired regarding current and future road
projects in the area. The following update is
provided regarding current and future projects
which will provide additional mobility in the
area. Some of the improvements will be
constructed by developers and others by various
governmental agencies, as noted below:

Fort
Apache Road - A two-lane roadway
currently exists from SR160 to Warm Springs
Road. North of Warm Springs Road, the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers is currently
constructing a flood control project to be
completed in early 2007. With the completion
of that project, Fort Apache Road will
continue to the north. For additional

Beltway
from Sunset Road to Buffalo Drive full
freeway facility - Clark County is
converting the initial Beltway in this area
to a four-lane full-freeway facility (two
lanes in each direction) with bridges and
approaches at Durango and Sunset. The bridge
at Sunset will be opened by February 2006
and the remaining improvements from Sunset
to Buffalo are expected to be complete by
summer 2006. For additional information,

Durango
Road from Windmill Lane to the Beltway -
Clark County is currently widening the
roadway to a total of four lanes (two in
each direction) with completion estimated
for spring 2006. For additional information,

Durango
Road from SR160 to Windmill Lane - The developers of Mountain's Edge are
expected to widen the roadway to four lanes
by late spring 2006. For additional

Buffalo
Drive from SR 160 to the Beltway -
The developers of Mountain's Edge are
expected to widen the existing roadway to
four lanes and construct four lanes in the
missing segments by late spring 2006. For

Rainbow
Boulevard from SR160 to Windmill Lane
- Clark County will widen the roadway to
four lanes by the end of 2006. For

SR160
from Decatur Bl. to Valley View Bl. - Nevada
Department of Transportation (NDOT) will
widen the roadway to eight lanes. Completion
is anticipated by the end of 2006. For more

from west of Rainbow Bl. to Decatur Bl. –
Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT)
will widen the roadway to eight lanes.
Completion is anticipated by spring 2008.

Springs Road and Decatur Bl. UPRR Railroad
Underpass - Clark County anticipates
completion of underpasses by early 2008. For

High-speed
connection from SR160 to the Beltway - The
Regional Transportation Commission of
Southern Nevada (RTC) is initiating a study
to analyze the potential need for a
high-speed connection. For additional
