Watch for the New Traffic Signals

A traffic signal system at the corner of Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive was activated on July 6.  Traffic studies indicated that approximately 26,000 motorists travel through this intersection each day.  The traffic signal was designed, built and installed within a compressed time frame and at a cost of approximately $744,000.  Focus Property Group, planner of the Mountain's Edge community, was required to contribute over half of the cost of the traffic signal installation.  The cost participation was a development requirement due to additional traffic impacts associated with the construction of new homes. This signal is the fourth of eight traffic signals that have been or will be activated in the southwest part of the County between April and August.

Other traffic signals recently activated in unincorporated Clark County:

  • July 11 - Spencer and Pyle
  • July 12 - Nellis and Hacienda
  • July 13 - Nellis and Russell
  • July 18 - Hacienda and Arville

Clark County Public Works also anticipates traffic signals to be activated on or about August 1 at the intersections of:

  • Hacienda and Torrey Pines
  • Hacienda and Lindell
  • Spring Mountain and El Capitan

Motorists are advised to proceed with extra caution through these intersections until drivers become familiar with the newly activated signal systems.

Clark County and a host of local and state government agencies continue to strongly encourage safe driving habits.  Safe driving tips are available on the county’s website at www.accessclarkcounty.com by clicking on the icon for "Bad Driving - What's Your Excuse?"
