New Facilities Recommended in Master Plan
Clark County is among the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country. This extraordinary rate and volume of expansion produces great challenges for government in meeting the needs of its citizens and visitors and providing the resources to its staff to accomplish their respective missions. One key resource is facilities.
The overriding purpose of the recommendations in the Clark County Facilities Master Plan is to provide the County with a roadmap that will serve as a guide for: a) determining the highest and best use of existing land and building resources; and, b) charting a prudent course regarding the development of new facilities that are required now and in the future.
In response to forecasted growth in population of 56 percent – from 1,775,591 to 2,762,580 between 2005 and 2025 – and other factors addressed below, this facilities master plan calls for the development of approximately 4million gross square feet of building space between now and 2025. This proposal strives, in a concerted and comprehensive effort, to:
- Mitigate, if not entirely eliminate, existing building space deficiencies.
- Accommodate the space requirements forecasted for each County department, agency and division on a location-by-location basis.
- To increase County presence in the rapidly growing outlying areas of the Valley and County at large.
- To consolidate numerous functions and operations that are currently fragmented into several newly conceived Regional Services Centers and Neighborhood Services Centers .
- To reduce the County’s reliance on leased facilities.
- To improve public service levels and public access to County facilities.
- To enhance internal County operational efficiency.
