Winchester Offers Variety of October Activities |
October 7 2 p.m.
 Shirley Chen Dancers take the audience on a virtual trip to China, complete with exquisite costumes, as part of the World Steps series. Admission is $10, children and seniors, $7. |
October 14 2 p.m.
 The long-awaited season debut of the Nevada Jazz Orchestra, playing a mix of standards and contemporary jazz, arranged and conducted by Barry Ross. Admission is $17, seniors and students $12, Jazz and Guitar Society members $8. |
October 17 every Wednesday at 7 p.m.
 Winchester kicks off its FREE Fall Mid-Week Film Series, featuring the movies of the beloved director Frank Capra. His signature mix of social satire and heartwarming sentiment colored the films which he himself called Capracorn. Seven films are scheduled from Oct. 17 to Dec. 5. |
October 20 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Vintage Vegas Farmers Market and Antique Fair takes place outside and includes classic old Vegas and Rock-a-Billy music, a farmers market with fresh produce, art and antiques for sale and appraisal. The event is free. |
October 21 2 p.m.
Bongomania, part of October's World Vibration concert series, featuring American jazz standards with an Afro-Caribbean flavor. Admission $10, seniors and children $7. |
October 29 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
FLIC finishes off the month on Monday, featuring local independent filmmakers. Admission is $3. |
November 1 and 2 5 9 p.m. Free and open to the public
 Life in Death festival, is a celebration of the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday with music, life size ofrenda displays outside, crafts, sugar skull making workshops, food, art and a special performance by the Bay Areas Los Cenzontles, at 7 p.m. each night in the theater, weaving song, music and dance that evoke the folk music of Mexico. The festival is free; Los Cenzontles is $15, $10 for students and seniors, click here for more details. |
