RecTrek Offers Solace for Summer Boredom Camps Begin in June at Eight Clark County Recreation Centers |
Clark County Parks and Recreations summer RecTrek camps offer children ages 6-12 an alternative to becoming a summer couch potato with activities at eight recreation centers across the Las Vegas Valley. Children who are age 5 and have completed kindergarten also are accepted.
Mail-in registration for RecTrek begins March 30 with walk-in registrations accepted starting April 9. RecTrek camps operate weekdays from June 11 through Aug. 24. Cost is $14 per day or $65 weekly. There is a 50 percent discount on the third child if three children from one family are enrolled for a full week. Online registration is not available for RecTrek, but parents can pay with a credit card at their local RecTrek site.
Payment in full confirms a childs place at camp. If a child will be attending more than two full weeks consecutively, parents can reserve a spot by paying for the first two weeks. Remaining payments are due by 6 p.m. each Wednesday for the following week. The spot will not be held if payment is not received by the deadline.
During RecTrek camps, children participate in arts and crafts, special themed projects, sports, games and field trips along with performing skits, watching movies and conducting science projects. Occasional field trips are offered for an additional fee. Children should bring lunch and snacks that dont need heating or refrigeration. Every child will be required to complete a swim test prior to participation in any swimming activities, which will be announced in advance at each location. A swim test certificate is available at any Clark County pool.
