BIRDS OF LAS VEGAS WASH Las Vegas Wash is host to a large number of resident and migrant bird species. Quail, killdeer, roadrunners, and sparrows nest in the desert scrub. Many species of waterfowl nest, pass through or winter on ponds. Migrating shorebirds, swallows and warblers are found in the spring and fall. Bird species which have been seen in the Wash in the area west of Lake Las Vegas are listed.
Compiled by Carolyn Titus and the Red Rock Audubon Society, June, 1999. (Order varies slightly from the AOU Checklist, Seventh Edition, 1998, because of space.) |
