Shooting Park Advisory Committee breaks ground

Welcome to the Clark County Shooting Park web page, brought to you courtesy of Clark County Nevada and the Clark County Parks & Recreation Department.

After 24 years of citizen efforts, construction of the Clark County Shooting Park is underway. The Public Module is designed to meet the expressed needs of the citizens of Clark County for recreational and training activities. On the left side of this page, we have posted links to various informational items. On the shooting park master plan, the green areas highlight the Public Module which is now under construction and will be ready for operation in the summer of 2009. (Click here to view Master Plan)

The shooting park is located on 2,900 acres. Development of the site, however, is much smaller. A larger area was obtained to provide a buffer around the shooting areas and keep it away from residences. For instance, the Public Module will only disturb 178 acres, while the entire build out will disturb approximately 900 acres. The closest shooting to any residence will be one mile. The rest of the 2,000 acres will be managed as a desert natural area and protected from the off road vehicle damage, random shooting, and criminal activities that are now occurring on the property. This modern shooting park has been designed to protect the environment while providing safe shooting opportunities for the public and complies with all federal, state, and local codes and ordinances. It is estimated that 47% of the households in Clark County own a firearm. When completed this will be the only public shooting range in southern Nevada.

The Clark County Shooting Park is a member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the National Association of Shooting Ranges (a division of NSSF), the National Rifle Association (club member) and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. The National Association of Shooting Ranges is a professional association of shooting ranges. They are the leader in shooting range management and operations, and have established a "five star" program for recreational shooting ranges. The Clark County Shooting Park has been designed to meet and exceed this "five star" level. As such, we are proud to endorse the following "Statement of Principles" for the Environment Management of Shooting Ranges.
