JW Caldwell’s exhibit I’d Rather Be Fishin’ at Winchester Center Opening reception Friday, December 12, 2008
“I’d Rather Be Fishin’” an exhibition of new paintings by artist JW Caldwell, opens Monday, December 8th. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, December 12th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 South McLeod Drive.
Caldwell presents new paintings based on fishing trips for the exhibition. Calwell states that “they are a pretty major part of my personal history, and as it turns out, part of the personal histories of those around me but they are rarely ever the subject of fine art. To Caldwell the subject matter of these resent paintings represent “a time of contemplation, dedication, bonding, and joy.”
Caldwell received his BA in Studio Art from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California in 1997. His work has been included in several exhibitions in Southern California and Southern Nevada including solo shows at the Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas and the R3 Gallery in San Diego.
The exhibit continues through February 6, 2009 and is sponsored by Clark County Parks and Recreation’s Cultural Division, with partial funding from the Nevada Arts Council. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
