Summer Camp Musical Showcase
Theater Boot Camp Presents ‘Music School Rock’ Aug. 14 and 15
Winchester Cultural Center Theater
3130 S. McLeod Drive
7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors
All summer, students in Winchester Cultural Center’s Theater Boot Camp
have been working on a production about hardly working. “Music School Rock” will mark the conclusion of the camp. “Music School Rock” is the camp’s take on a story of kids rebelling against classic stereotypes to learn the art of rock n’ roll. Children ages 6 to 16 are enrolled in Theater Boot Camp, which began June 9. Throughout the summer, campers were provided with professional theater instruction along with classes in hip-hop dance, etiquette, music appreciation and either guitar, piano or percussion.
The brother-and-sister team of Susan and Christopher Swanson directed the camp. Susan Swanson brings Broadway experience in shows such as “No, No Nannette,” “Pajama Game” and “Anything Goes” while Christopher Swanson has performed in “Jubilee!” at Bally’s on the Strip.
