The Las Vegas valley had been a part of Lincoln County since 1866, when Lincoln County was established. But in August 1908 the Lincoln County Division Club, a Las Vegas businessman’s organization campaigned for the creation of a new County of Clark from the south half of Lincoln County. In January 1909 the campaign was taken to the State Legislature, where, in February, the Legislature passed the County Division Act to create Clark County, with Las Vegas as the county seat, effective July 1. This yearlong exhibit celebrates the rich and varied history of Clark County that began July 1st 1909 at Twelve o’clock a.m.
