Also at the April 1st Board of County Commissioners Joint meeting, the County Commission agreed to extend the expiration period of all active building permits for new single-family homes issued on or before April 3, 2008, for a Group R-3 Occupancy, until November 3, 2008.

Normally, according to the Clark County Building Administrative Code, all building permits expire and become null and void if the permitted work has not commenced within 180 days from the date the permit was issued, or if the work authorized by the permit has had no approved inspections within 180 days of the permit issuance date.

Whereas the Building Administrative Code requires applicants to pay a fee to renew expired permits, the extension approved by the County Commission is automatic without additional charges to permit holders.

This extension is one-time only and is in the hope that the residential market will improve during the next six months. It was added as an exception to Section 22.02.320, Expiration of Permits, of the Building Administrative Code.
