A public hearing was held by the County Commission April 1 to extend an ordinance to amend the Clark County Amusement and Transportation Systems Code, which pertains to the monorail and electronic people movers commonly seen at McCarran Airport.
Clark County adopted the first Amusement and Transportation Systems Code in 1991 and most recently amended it in 1998. In the subsequent ten years, there have been technological innovations resulting in new amusement rides and systems and upgrades to existing rides and systems. To keep pace with these innovations, Development Services requested the County Commissioners adopt a new Amusement and Transportation Systems Code with standards that more effectively regulate amusement and transportation rides and systems in Clark County. The proposed Amusement and Transportation Systems Code was developed with the local amusement ride industry's participation and input.
The County Commission approved the ordinance, which is available on Development Services' Web site.
