Children’s Festival Makes it Easy to be a Kid
Clark County Event Provides Fun, Entertainment for 15th Year
Children of all ages can celebrate the joys of childhood during the 15th annual Clark County Children’s Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 at the Winchester Cultural Center and Park, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The event and many activities are free, but there are minimal fees for selected activities, rides and concessions.
The award-winning festival combines recreational, cultural and creative activities to entertain and educate children of all ages.
"The Clark County Children's Festival is a great way for the community to come together and interact with its children,” said Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, who represents the area. “Winchester Cultural Center provides many activities so parents, mentors and children can bond in a positive, fun and entertaining atmosphere."
In the play area, challenges can be faced in the inflatable obstacle course along with jumping in the bounce houses. The Ferris wheel, fun train, face painting and balloon animal artists bring the festive carnival atmosphere.
During indoor and outdoor crafts workshops, children can paint ceramic tiles, craft paper flowers and spin paint to create their own artwork. Other activities include carnival-style games, historical mock battles with Knights of Black Talon, Dixie Pony Rides’ Pony-Go-Round, storytelling and a drum circle.
On the outdoor stage, Winchester’s own Star Catchers, a hip-hop youth dance team, and the Winchester Players, the center’s resident youth theater troop, will entertain the crowd. Other performers include magic by Dixie Dooley, steel drums by Harris Todman, the Encore Dance Vegas City Arts, Joyce Rice from the Candoos, African Arts Productions, Showbiz Kidz and the Lohan School of Shaolin.
Food and beverages, provided by Quality Food, El Jalapeno and local groups, are available for purchase. Some activities require registration and information can be found at the front desk.
