Early Childhood Center
Facility for 100 Children Welcomed to MLK and Carey
Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly welcomed the Early Childhood Development Center at 1555 W. Carey Ave. Las Vegas, to the community. This newest Head Start center in Clark County will serve up to 100 children ages 3 to 5 year-round.
This center was built and is owned by Clark County. The non-profit organization Community Development Institute (CDI) Head Start Serving Clark County, Nevada will operate this center. This is the organization’s 13th Head Start center in Clark County, which combined serve approximately 1,700 children.
The organization also receives funding from the state and federal governments to support this center. Head Start is a federally funded early childhood education program that serves low-income families with children ages 3 to 5.
“Head Start is a program that enriches the lives of children and families and we are very fortunate to have community leaders who recognize and support what we do,” Community Development Institute Program Director Janice Moore said. “This Early Childhood Development center enables us to provide high-quality services in the high-quality environment our families deserve. On behalf of every child, parent and employee, I extend our deepest gratitude and humblest appreciation to the Board of County Commissioners. You are promoting positive life-changing experiences in a nurturing environment that paves the way to success for many and for many years to come.”
The roughly 15,000-square-foot center is near the intersection with Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue. There will be a brief tour of the center following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
