Clark County Wins Top Business Communication Award

Clark County’s Department of Comprehensive Planning won the top award with a perfect score at this year’s International Association of Business Communicators recognition ceremony in February. The county received the association’s coveted Best of Show award and a Bronze Quill for its “Indian Perspectives on Yucca Mountain” video. The 10-minute video details the concerns expressed by the Las Vegas Paiutes and the Moapa Band of Paiutes about the prospect of storing high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain.

Commenting on the quality of “Indian Perspectives on Yucca Mountain,” the judges wrote, “This entry was the only one in the competition to receive a perfect score of 5.0.” In addition, the judges were impressed that the project more than exceeded its goals and objectives, noting the project as “A superb piece of work.” Click here to view the video.

The Nuclear Waste Program also received a Bronze Quill Award for initiating an expansive podcast communication project, the first of its kind for any governmental agency in the state.
