Payment Deadline for Excursion is Feb. 28
The Grand Canyon is a natural wonder that garners attention year-round. Seniors will be able to explore the South Rim of the Grand Canyon during an overnight excursion coordinated by Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The bus will depart the center at 8 a.m. April 28 and will return to the center at 8:30 p.m. April 29. Cost is $170 for a single or $125 per person for a double occupancy room. Deadline for payment is Feb. 28.
Historic landmarks, hotels, quaint cabins, museums, gift shops and restaurants make the South Rim of the Grand Canyon a perfect spring getaway. The first stop of the trip will be in Kingman, Ariz. for lunch and then onto Tusayan, Ariz. for the IMAX film “Grand Canyon – Discovery and Adventure,” which takes viewers on a 34-minute tour of the canyon that would take a lifetime to experience. The fee for the movie, not included in the total price, is $12.78.
Participants will stay at the Maswik Lodge, located in the heart of the Grand Canyon Historical District and a short walk from the South Rim. They will be free to explore the canyon and the historic district until the bus departs after lunch the following day.
On the way home, participants will stop in Seligman, the Route 66 town, for a flavor of old Main Street America when Route 66 was the hub for travelers across country. The stop will be followed by dinner in Kingman.
Excursion fee does not include meals, IMAX theater entry or park fee. The park fee can be waived with a Golden Eagle Passport or the new America the Beautiful Senior Pass, which can be purchased at the theater.
Registration can be completed in person at the Winchester Cultural Center or checks can be mailed to the center at 3130 S. McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121. Those interested can call the center at 455-7340 or visit the Web site at www.accessclarkcounty.com/parks.
