County Clerk Also Opening Henderson Office Soon
Couples planning to get married in Clark County are reminded to bring photo identification with them when heading to the County Clerk’s office for a marriage license.
A new state law that took effect on Jan. 1 requires couples to present photo identification and proof of age to get a marriage license.
“With Valentine’s Day fast approaching we want to make sure that all of our prospective happy couples remember to bring proper identification,“ County Clerk Shirley Parraguirre said. “Getting married can be a hectic process, so please remember to bring your driver’s license or passport and we will be able to take care of you quickly.”
Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, passport, birth certificate with a secondary form of identification that contains your name and photograph, military identification, and identification issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.
The clerk’s office may require that foreign birth certificates be translated into English and notarized.
Also, in mid-February a new branch of the Clerk’s office will open at Henderson City Hall at 240 Water St. The branch office will initially be open Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing from noon to 12:30 p.m. for lunch. The hours will be expanded if necessary.
The Clerk’s office typically issues more than 100,000 marriage licenses every year.
