Department 1 - Judge Stephen J. Dahl
Judge Dahl holds the Department 1 Justice of the Peace position and has served in North Las Vegas since 1995. Prior to his election, he spent 6 1/2 years as the team chief over the death penalty litigation unit of the Clark County Public Defender's office. He has been licensed to practice law in Clark County since 1984. Judge Dahl currently serves as president-elect of the Clark County Bar Association and the Nevada Judges Association. He served as president of the Eighth Judicial District Pro Bono Foundation from 2002 - 2004, and he serves on the advisory board for the Neighborhood Justice Center. He is active in the Trial by Peers program, and was named Judge of the Year for that program in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004. He also received Ambassador of the Year award from the Clark County Law Foundation (the charitable arm of the Clark County Bar Association) in 2001, and was named Clark County Bar Association board member of the year in 2002 and 2004. Judge Dahl regularly teaches classes on criminal procedure and the Nevada court system for the North Las Vegas Citizen's Police Academy. For the last nine years, Judge Dahl and his staff have sponsored an annual art contest for the school children in the North Las Vegas Township. The artwork from the contest is used to decorate most of the courthouse. More recently, Judge Dahl, together with North Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge Warren Van Landschoot, helped to create the "Life of Crime" family educational program, and has supervised and participated in the presentation of that program to thousands of local children and their parents and leaders. In the 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002 bi-annual Review Journal/Clark County Bar Association judicial surveys, Judge Dahl was the top-rated justice of the peace in Clark County. He was named 2004 Judge of the Year by the Nevada Judges Association. Last year, the North Las Vegas City Council recognized Judge Dahl's contributions to the community and issued a proclamation making April 6, 2005 Judge Stephen Dahl Day.

Department 2 - Chief Judge Natalie L. Tyrrell
Judge Natalie L. Tyrrell has served as Justice of the Peace in North Las Vegas since January 2001. She was re-elected to serve a second term until January 2013. She is the first woman judge in North Las Vegas. She is currently serving as the first Chief Judge of the North Las Vegas Justice Court. Prior to her election she served almost 9 years as an elder law attorney with the City of Las Vegas Senior Citizens Law Project. She also served as an attorney arbitrator for the State of Nevada. She is licensed to practice law in both Nevada and Minnesota and before the United States Supreme Court. Judge Tyrrell created an outreach program in 2002 KIDS IN THE COURT, partnering with C.P. Squires Elementary School, an at risk school in North Las Vegas. This program educates fifth graders about the court system with emphasis on careers and the importance of staying in school. The students meet Judge Tyrrell, who visits the school to discuss her education and the judicial process. The students then take a field trip to the North Las Vegas Justice Court where they tour the facility, meet Judge Tyrrell’s staff to learn about their jobs and education and then participate in a mock trial. Some of the students act as jurors, witnesses and defendants. Judge Tyrrell is working to expand the program to reach more students. Judge Tyrrell has recently become a presenter in the “Life of Crime” program. Judge Tyrrell has also been involved in other programs that benefit youth, including the Clark County Bar Association Trial By Peers program, Say Yes to Youth Day, Latin Chamber Career Day and Law Day programs. She is the only charter member of the Board of the Friends of the North Las Vegas Library District. Judge Tyrrell is an active member of the Latin, Urban and Asian Chambers of Commerce. She is a member of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction, the American Judges Association, National Association of Women Judges, the American Bar Association, and the Clark County Bar Association. She is a graduate of the North Las Vegas Citizens Police Academy and is a member of CPAAN (Citizens Police Academy Alumni North). In 2004 she received the Professional Services Award from the Latin Chamber of Commerce for her many contributions to our community. In 2006 she was inducted into the Nevada Law Foundation as a Colleague.

Judge Chris Lee holds the newly created Department 3 Justice of the Peace position and has served North Las Vegas since January 2009. Before his election to the bench, Judge Lee served as Deputy Secretary of State for Southern Nevada. Prior to that, Judge Lee spent 7 years with the Clark County District Attorney’s office, working in the Civil and Criminal Divisions and serving as a Deputy District Attorney with the Domestic Violence Unit, Driving Under the Influence Unit and as a Criminal Prosecutor. After graduating from Occidental College with Dean’s List Honors, Judge Lee attended Santa Clara Law School. While at Santa Clara, Judge Lee was named a Law Faculty Scholar, elected President of the Asian Pacific Law Students Association, selected as Chairperson of the Admissions Application Review Committee, and held the position of Visiting Student at Loyola Law School (Los Angeles). Judge Lee is active in the community, having served as a board member for the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada and the Alzheimer Advisory Board – Memory Walk. Judge Lee has participated as a guest lecturer for the “Bridging the Gap” program with the Nevada State Bar Association and the “Trial by Peers” program with the Clark County Bar Association, as well as Big Brother during Boys Night Out with the Boys and Girls Club. Judge Lee’s memberships have included the Nevada District Attorney’s Association, Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, Asian Bar Association, Clark County Bar Association and the Nevada Bar Association.
