OUR MISSION STATEMENT:   Henderson Justice Court is a court of limited jurisdiction which upholds the public's trust and confidence, while retaining its independence and accountability by dealing with each matter in an equitable and timely manner. 

DESCRIPTION :   The Court hears civil cases with jurisdictional amounts up to $10,000.00, small claims cases up to $5,000.00, and landlord/tenant eviction hearings.  The Court handles citations issued by the Nevada Highway Patrol, Henderson Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Union Pacific Railroad, Public Service Commission, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Motor Carrier Division, Clark County School District Police, and the Clark County Park Rangers.  In addition, the Court issues search warrants and arrest warrants, holds arraignments and trials for misdemeanor cases, and handles felony and gross misdemeanor cases from the initial arrest through the preliminary hearing stage, including bail setting and probable cause determination. 

LOCATION:   Henderson Justice Court is located on the entry level of the Robert A. Swadell City of Henderson Justice Facility on the corner of Basic Road and Water Street.  The Justice Facility public parking lot can be accessed from Basic Road. Additional parking may be located in the City Hall parking lot across from the Justice Facility on Water Street.  All visitors are subject to security screening when entering the building.

BUSINESS HOURS: Access to the Henderson Justice Facility is available between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.  Once inside the building, Henderson Justice Court clerks are available 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday excluding holidays. Court hours are set based on the type of proceeding. Please refer to your court documents for specific department and court times.

PAYMENTS:  Henderson Justice Court accepts debit and credit cards bearing the Visa or Mastercard logo for all payments that are due the court, to include traffic citations, civil fees, criminal fines and bail.  Payments cannot be accepted over the phone.  A customer may not exceed $3,000.00 in Credit Card Transactions within a three-day calendar period.  Payee must show a photo ID that matches the name on the credit card before it will be accepted for payment.  Photo ID is not required for ATM and Debit Card Transactions.   

COURTROOM STANDARDS:

No weapons are allowed in the courthouse, and there is no smoking in the courthouse. There is no eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the courtroom.

Proper courtroom attire is required. No shorts or tank tops are allowed in the courtroom, shoes are required. T-shirts which show offensive slogans or pictures are not allowed. Hats should be removed before entering the courtroom.

While in the courtroom, sit quietly when Court is in session. Do not talk or whisper. The Court proceedings may be transcribed by a court reporter and noise can interfere with the preparation of this important record.

Avoid bringing children to court. If it is necessary to do so, please monitor their behavior so they remain quiet at all times. If they are quiet, children are allowed in the courtroom, but parents may be asked to leave the courtroom if their child becomes noisy or unruly.

All beepers, cellular telephones, and electronic devices must be turned off before entering the courtroom. Avoid reading newspapers, or books in the courtrooms, particularly if your use of such material may be a distraction to others.

Communication with in-custody defendants is strictly prohibited. 

BAILIFFS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURITY AND ENFORCEMENT OF COURTROOM STANDARDS.

If you are NON-ENGLISH speaking, you SHOULD bring a translator with you when you appear at the Clerk's Office, or for your Court appearance. Otherwise, you may not be able to present your information to the Judge. For court appearances, translators may be obtained from the District Court Interpreter's Office.
