GENERAL INFORMATION |
Who May Vote: All voters registered in Clark County, Nevada, may vote in the County's Federal/State Primary and General Elections. |
What Is on the Ballot: Federal, State and County offices will be up for election. Ballot questions may also be included in the General Election. You may vote only for offices and ballot questions that are applicable to your specific precinct, as listed in your sample ballot. |
What Is a “CLOSED” Primary Election: A Primary Election is a preliminary (or nominating) election. Its purpose is to select, when necessary, the Democratic, Republican and Nonpartisan candidates who will run for office in the General Election. The direct vote of the people selects these candidates, rather than delegates at a convention. Note that not all candidates and offices up for election may appear in the Primary Election (click here for more information). |
Nevada has “CLOSED” Federal/State Primary Elections. This means only registered Democrats and Republicans may vote in partisan contests, but all registered voters may vote in nonpartisan contests. Additionally, only registered Democrats may vote for Democrats and only registered Republicans may vote for Republicans, i.e., you cannot vote for candidates from a party other than your own. To change your party, you must re-register to vote by the registration deadline (see dates above). Click here to request a Voter Registration Application to re-register and change your party. |
