The starting salary for a newly assigned Deputy District Attorney is over $67,000.00.  Upon completing the four-week New Attorney Training program, new Deputy District Attorneys are given  immediate litigation opportunities.  Responsibilities and duties include representing the State of Nevada in misdemeanor trials and preliminary hearings for felony cases.  New attorneys will also present felony cases before the Grand Jury and sit as second-chair on felony jury trials.

After approximately six months, new Deputy District Attorneys will begin handling cases at the District Court level to include arraignments, sentencing arguments, and probation revocation hearings.  At this stage, attorneys will handle a full caseload of trials and sit as lead counsel on gross misdemeanor and felony jury trials.

Deputy District Attorneys will become eligible for promotion to Chief Deputy District Attorney after five years.  The annual salary for a Chief Deputy District Attorney is over $95,000.00.
