A newly assigned Deputy District Attorney will begin at the Associate Attorney level.  Starting annual salary for an Associate Attorney is over $61,000.00.  After a few weeks of orientation and training, Associate Attorneys are given  immediate litigation opportunities.  Responsibilities and duties include representing the State of Nevada in misdemeanor trials and preliminary hearings for felony cases.  Associate Attorneys will also present felony cases before the Grand Jury and sit as second-chair on jury trials.

  After approximately six months, Associate Attorneys will undergo a few days of additional training and then begin handling cases at the District Court level to include arraignments, sentencing arguments, and probation revocation hearings.  At this stage, Associate Attorneys will handle a full caseload of trials and sit as lead counsel on gross misdemeanor and felony jury trials.

Associate Attorneys will become eligible for promotion to the Attorney level after 24 months.  The annual salary for a Deputy District Attorney at the Attorney level is over $66,000.00.
