Mission Statement

The Civil Division of the Office of the District Attorney:

Provides the defense of all civil suits brought against the County and against former officers and employees in civil actions based on alleged acts or omissions relating to their public duties and employment; to prosecute all civil actions for the recovery of debts accruing to the County; to bring civil actions for abatement of nuisances; to attend administrative hearings; to prosecute all other civil actions by the County as directed by the Board of County Commissioners; to give legal opinions to all County, township and district officers within the County on all matters relating to the duties of their respective offices; and to attend meetings of the Board of County Commissioners, render opinions on legal questions that arise during those meetings, and oppose such accounts or claims as are deemed illegal or unjust.
