 Mission Statement

               What we do . . .

The Office of the District Attorney is:

      The legal branch of local government representing the Clark County Commission and other county agencies in administrative and litigation matters. The Criminal Division of the office prosecutes all felony crimes and many misdemeanors occurring within the County. Extensive services for victims of crime and witnesses are provided through the Victim-Witness Assistance Center. Last year, the office filed over 22,420 felony cases and 32,678 misdemeanor charges against defendants for crimes ranging from petit larceny to murder. These cases are aggressively prosecuted by seventy-five Deputy District Attorney's appearing regularly in thirty judicial forums.

        David Roger, the District Attorney for the county was elected in 2002 to serve a term of four years. The Assistant District Attorney for criminal justice functions is Christopher J. Lalli.

     The Juvenile Division processes criminal matters concerning juveniles, prosecuting approximately 6,000 cases per year.  Teresa Lowry supervises the activities of this unit, which is located in the Family Court building.

        The Family Support Division enforces child support through the court system.  About seventy employees, including eight attorneys, are actively involved in this process. The Division Director is C.A. Watts.  In 1995, the Family Support Division Collected 40 million dollars on behalf of children in Clark County.   Ninety percent (90%) of the funding for this growing division is paid by the federal government.

Mary Anne Miller, County Counsel supervises the Civil Division, which handles civil lawsuits and advises county departments on administrative law matters.
