Air Quality Notifications

Welcome to EnviroFlash, the new air quality notification system from the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management (DAQEM). This new service replaces air quality notifications you once received through the county’s Direct Connect service.

EnviroFlash delivers complete air quality forecasts and DAQEM issued air quality advisories directly to you based on the   Air Quality Index (AQI) via e-mail or text message.  EnviroFlash gives you instant information that you can customize for your own needs, allowing you to make good decisions that will help protect the health of you and your family.

With the introduction of this new service, the DAQEM has automatically moved existing air quality subscribers on Direct Connect to EnviroFlash. You will continue to receive e-mail messages when the DAQEM issues an air quality advisory or alert, but you also have the opportunity to sign up for daily air quality forecasts if you choose.  None of your other Direct Connect choices will be affected by your EnviroFlash subscription.

What are the air quality forecast options?

The DAQEM currently forecasts daily air quality conditions for the City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, City of Henderson, City of Boulder City and Mesquite.

 With EnviroFlash, you can receive:

  • air quality forecasts for these areas every day,
  • notifications only when the Air Quality Index (AQI) is forecasted to be  Moderate (AQI 51-100),
  • notifications only when the AQI is forecasted to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (AQI 101-150).

All forecasts include estimated conditions for the current and next day, as well as an extended five day outlook.

I work for a large business or organization, am I still able to forward air quality advisories to my colleagues?

Yes, DAQEM encourages you to continue forwarding air quality advisories or alerts to your employees, but would also recommend inviting your employees or group members to individually subscribe to EnviroFlash.  In addition to delivering air quality advisories, EnviroFlash allows individual users to subscribe for daily air quality forecasts.  Each user is able to customize how often they receive forecast messages, making EnviroFlash especially useful to individuals especially sensitive to air pollution.

EnviroFlash is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management and other state and local air quality agencies that participate in the AirNow Program.  This service follows electronic communication privacy rules and does not share e-mail information.   http://www.epa.gov/epafiles/usnotice.htm
