The Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management  is well aware that we cannot succeed in our clean air mission without the active participation of our citizens. In addition to this web site,we are developing Air Quality alerts for the public, school programs, advertising campaigns, a speakers bureau, and written material. We are also participating in many public events like Earth Day.

The Las Vegas valley must meet federally mandated EPA health standards for airborne dust or risk losing both millions of dollars in federal highway funds and local control of air quality programs.

With the stakes so high, the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management has introduced an advertising campaign that is targeted directly at the people most likely to indulge in individual activities that generate airborne dust. Our budget is very limited, so we’ve taken a creative approach designed to cut through the clutter and make our point: driving on dirt shoulders and empty lots is a problem, and people who do this are indulging in behavior that harms public health. The dust we raise is the dust we breathe.
