State of the County
County commissioners used the Feb. 3 State of the County address to tout numerous successes experienced during the previous year and said they would build upon them in 2004, particularly in managing the challenges of growth.
The seven commissioners each delivered part of the annual State of the County address, which highlighted the previous year’s accomplishments and alluded to challenges ahead.
Topics included water conservation and the area’s historic drought, transportation and air quality , health care and University Medical Center , new ethics rules and the dynamics of a new County Commission, a new master planning process, public safety and community services, the launch of a Community Growth Management Initiative and the county’s financial health.
