Obtain a Notary Commission?
You must have a $10,000 Notary Public Bond ($20.00 filing fee required) which is accepted and filed by the County Clerk and a Filing Notice will be issued to you. You must also be sworn in as a Notary Public by a valid notary. The Filing Notice will then be submitted along with your application and $35.00 application fee to the Secretary of State.
Verify a Notary's Signature?
This is normally done with a document known as an apostille. You will need to contact the Secretary of State for that as their office issues notary commissions.
Do I have to...
Take the Notary Oath in Your Office?
No, you can take the oath in front of any valid notary. However, most people choose to take the oath in our office since they are required to file the notary bond in our office anyway.
