Fictitious Firm Name records are located in the County Clerk's downtown office on the 5th floor of the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Avenue, Las Vegas, NV.  Application filing is available at the Regional Justice Center location, in the County Clerk's Commission Division location at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, 1st floor, Las Vegas, NV,  in our Mesquite office at 500 Hillside Drive in Mesquite, NV, in our Laughlin office at 101 Civic Way in Laughlin, NV and in our Henderson office at 240 S. We are not able to reserve a fictitious firm name for you.  The filing of a fictitious firm name does not give exclusive rights to the use of that name.  A fictitious filing is required by statute (NRS 602.010) and is also required by the Business License office before issuing a license under a fictitious name.

Fictitious firm names must be renewed every five years.

Why do I need to...

mauve_dot.gif (849 bytes) Provide proof of qualification to do business under LLC, corporation, a Business Trust, Professional Organization, or other organized structure?
Effective October 1, 2005, NRS 602.017 places a number of additional restrictions on the adoption of fictitious firm names.  Further, the statute mandates that no County Clerk may accept for filing a certificate which violates any provisions of this chapter.

Therefore, the customer must provide documents showing they are qualified to do business in this state before any certificate will be accepted for filing.  CLICK HERE for the full text of the changes to NRS 602.017 which took effect October 1, 2005.
