As part of our desire to provide practical services to our customers, this office is proud to announce the availability of Fictitious Firm Name information on the Internet.  We are making accessible facts associated with Fictitious Firm Names filed from 1986 forward.   It is now possible to browse through computer records to verify a business name, address or owner name.  If more in-depth data is required please visit or contact one of our locations where FFNs are processed to review the complete record.  Records prior to 2001 are only available in the office on the 5th floor of the Regional Justice Center (RJC). FICTITIOUS FIRM NAME INQUIRY INSTRUCTIONS:  

  1. Click on the link at the bottom of this page to open the AiLIS Public Inquiry page for the Office of the County Clerk .
  2. To search by business name, begin by clicking on the Fictitious Firm Name tab at the top of the page.  Enter the DBA or FFN into the Business Name box.
  3. To search by owner name, enter the owner name into the Last Name and First Name boxes.
  4. Enter a date range to search into the From Date and To Date boxes.  If the filing date is known, use that date for both boxes.  The larger the date range, the longer it will take to search.
  5. It is recommended that Like name search is selected rather than Exact because it is not uncommon to forget the exact name as it was entered on the form when it was originally filed.   
  6. Once all the information is entered, click on the Search button.  
  7. Entries for the parameters given will be displayed.
  8. Click on the appropriate document number for more detailed information.  The actual document is not available for viewing, only the filing information is. 
  9.  If the FFN record does not appear, try entering in just the first part of the business name.

A search may also be done by the Instrument number or date.

    1.   To search by the instrument number, click on the Instrument tab and enter the number in the
           Instrument # box OR enter the year, month and date, in the appropriate boxes to search by 
           the date.  

    2.  To search by document type, click on the Document type tab and enter the date range into the   
          From Date and To Date boxes.

    3.   In the blue box to the right, the search can be narrowed further so that only FFN records appear.
   
4.   To do that, click on the + sign next to General to expand the selection, then select the box for 
           Fictitious Firm Names.  (Note:  If you are unable to see the General selection, click on the + sign 
           next to Document Types).

   
5.   The search can be narrowed further by clicking on the + sign next to Fictitious Firm Names and 
           then select the desired search parameter for FFN CERTIFICATE, FFN CHANGE, FFN 

           TERMINATION – BUSINESS, or FFN TERMINATION – OWNER.

    6.   Once all of the information is entered, click on the Search button.

    7.   Entries for the parameters given will be displayed.

    8.  Click on the appropriate document number for more detailed information.  The actual document 

          is not available for viewing, only the filing information is.  

The data displayed is for computer indexing only. The Clark County Clerks Office does not assume any liability as to the accuracy of the data produced and published.   

FFNs are indexed as they are filed, so they appear online immediately.  However, the information may not be verified for accuracy for a couple of days, depending on the workload.  For any questions or to verify information, please contact our Customer Service counter at (702) 671-0523.

Note ** FFNs are indexed on-line from 1986 through the present. For inquiries about FFNs prior to 1986, contact or come into our main office in the RJC.  To view archived records from 2001 forward, come into any one of our office locations where FFNs are processed.  Records prior to 2001 are only available in the office on the 5th floor of the RJC.  A search or copy request can also be mailed to us along with appropriate fees.  For information on ordering copies,  click here.
