Water Fountain Information

  • Effective July 21, 2004, Clark County adopted an Administrative Design Review Process within the drought ordinance to allow commercial and homeowner association water features to operate during Drought Watch and Drought Alert. To qualify for the program, property owners must convert 50 square feet of grass to water-smart desert landscaping for every square foot of fountain surface area. If property owners do not have enough turf to meet the 50 square feet ratio, all available turf that does not serve a recreational purpose must be removed. The remaining square footage will be subject to a fee. Properties without turf will pay a fee to operate a fountain. Information about the program is available via Clark County Current Planning, 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy., (702)455-4314.

  • Use specifications are listed in the drought ordinance.

  • Fountains located in the resort corridor are allowed to operate under Drought Watch and Drought Alert conditions. The exception was adopted because the Las Vegas Strip is a vital part of our local economy and fountains and water features play a key role in its allure as a world-renowned tourist destination. Southern Nevada hotels account for approximately 7 percent of the valleys water use.
