With 11 resorts and casinos perched on the Colorado River, Laughlin is a destination point for nearly 4 million visitors a year. Aside from the regular flow of tourists, Laughlin now has commercial trucks diverted through the area as a result of dam road closures after the 9-11 attacks. The existing Laughlin Bridge is the main access point through the Nevada-Arizona border for nearly 15.3 million vehicles a year. A second bridge is needed to alleviate the traffic congestion and safety concerns on the existing Laughlin Bridge.
