In the event of an emergency, officials would disseminate information to the public and the media from a joint information center (JIC). A JIC is a component of the countys emergency operations center (EOC) and, under most scenarios, would be located at the Clark County Government Center in downtown Las Vegas.

Information would be provided to the mass media via news releases, bulletins, news conferences and other means. News conferences and other emergency information would be carried live on the countys cable television station, Channel 4, and over this website. Public information also would be provided through a prerecorded emergency telephone line at 223-INFO (4636). Additionally, if warranted, telephone lines would be set up so that members of the public could call the JIC directly.

If the EOC were activated, a room for credentialed media would be set up. Under most scenarios, that media room would be located in the Pueblo Room on the first floor of the Government Center. There, news conferences would be held and credentialed media would be provided with updates for dissemination to the public.

Members of the media having questions could contact the JIC through the county public information officers for the agencies working there. Land lines would be established and those numbers would be faxed and/or e-mailed to the media.
