What is VORP? This is a court diversion program offered in partnership with the Department of Juvenile Justice. The VORP provides the victims of juvenile crime the opportunity to have a structured face-to-face meeting with their juvenile offenders in a secure, safe environment, in order to facilitate a process of healing and restitution. Who makes referrals for the VORP? Typically, the Department of Juvenile Justice refers cases for mediation. Victims may also request cases go to mediation. Parents may request participation in the program and cases will be reviewed and considered by the NJC in conjunction with the Department of Juvenile Justice. Can adults participate in the VORP? On a case-by-case basis, the NJC will accept adult cases, post adjudication. Requests for mediation should come from the victim. How much does the program cost?
